I was able to get more information about what people thought at each of the break out sessions through the Banjo App on my Android phone. It made it easier for me to connect with others at the conference, while getting good info of what was happening at the other sessions I was missing out on!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-50399114906848091302011-09-25T19:31:59.471-07:002011-09-25T19:31:59.471-07:00Everyone loves the Facebook.Everyone loves the Facebook.DBCHongkonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11056393060081495777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-21644312536620471112011-09-24T14:38:26.813-07:002011-09-24T14:38:26.813-07:00http://facebook-changed-world.blogspot.com/http://facebook-changed-world.blogspot.com/twixdemon1https://www.blogger.com/profile/18301254238221726869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-51572316121250630222011-09-03T04:45:25.519-07:002011-09-03T04:45:25.519-07:00thanks for the link. I had similarly valuable communication with ed. tech. startups this summer and we celebrated our success by co-writing a "best practices" paper that explains the actions, behaviors and mindsets that made our "bridge"/partnership so effective. Everything we wrote resonates SO clearly with what you have put forth here. Thank you! And thanks to all who have the foresight to recognize the importance of innovating what we do AND how we do it! Your commentary about "hitting a wall" is exactly why I ventured into the toy industry after 7 years working and researching in the field of educational psychology. Problem is - there's lots of walls everywhere - not just in Education. I believe now that innovations in any vertical require entrepreneurs who simply make things happen. Institutions will come around and adopt once they 'have to' - not often because they can or should.J@son Goodm@nhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13111438576210742868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-85385857960728050562011-08-08T19:54:33.288-07:002011-08-08T19:54:33.288-07:00Very good point, Brian.Very good point, Brian.DBCHongkonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11056393060081495777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-23052453393438849472011-08-04T14:51:21.875-07:002011-08-04T14:51:21.875-07:00Another great use of social media with brands is t...Another great use of social media with brands is that you can find out how consumers are innovating in different ways with your brands/products that you never intended. I think that's so true.

I can remember in specific office settings seeing people in the room address the ideas from the vantage point of a character. These were people who, if you talked to them about interesting things outside of the work place, were incredibly open and risk-taking about those ideas. I wonder if the dynamics of office politics and roles are the two things that create this blindness. Like, as soon as you feel you are put into a role, you are not able to see things from the perspective of an original mind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-46143446021080028902011-03-09T12:27:06.354-08:002011-03-09T12:27:06.354-08:00I agree with the above, but I also think there is ...I agree with the above, but I also think there is another value in the past, at Instagram.

The user does share what is happening right now, but the collective viewing of photos from that chain of "now" moments is what the user might offer so that other users would connect to them.

There's a community building value in a body of work.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-74040579999428573092010-12-30T10:35:59.711-08:002010-12-30T10:35:59.711-08:00This summarizes the problem:
"Flickr’s model...This summarizes the problem:

"Flickr’s model relates to the fact that people attribute value to the photographs that they take and the memories that they capture. The value is realized in the moment that the photo is viewed in the online album. ...

Conversely, the value of Instagram is more about the present than it is the past. “Help me share the experience I’m having right now.” ...The value in this situation is realized at the moment that the person snaps a picture and adds it to the stream on Instagram."

MMS was also predicated on the sharing concept but it is of marginal value because it was too expensive and not universally available.

Flickr solved the shoebox problem while Instagram solved the making duplicates and sending them to friends job.

I would add that the old Polaroid camera holds a clue to another job people hire photos for. I know somebody who recently bought a Polaroid camera and is very satisfied to hire it at parties where he can create excitement by letting people pass around photos recently taken. The job to be done is to have a physical object of discussion. Nothing else solves it. However having that photo digitally available on everyone else's phone is nearly the same thing.

The opportunities for innovation in mobile photos still abound.

What causes companies to miss these opportunities is what disruption is all about.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12222291218742965333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-45040969158017884232009-03-11T06:47:00.000-07:002009-03-11T06:47:00.000-07:00Excellent job, Chris. You hit the target spot on.

As the subject of this analysis, it was fun fielding your questions that made me think about what it was about pretzel rods that made them the quintessential snack for me. And, even though I like the texture of thinner pretzels better, they're not as sharable. So, in the end, the rods won out against their competition.

I think sometimes we engage in behaviors that are so rote to us, they hardly generate a blip on the radar. So it's kind of fun when someone comes along and says, "Interesting. Why do you do that?" :)

~Annieanniecushinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05457911867667670947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4895184749682287944.post-55309189907531239422009-02-12T19:51:00.000-08:002009-02-12T19:51:00.000-08:00Chris,This is a very well written piece, however, ...Chris,
This is a very well written piece, however, I don't think I am smart enough to know what any of it means.
